Tandav Review 2.5 Stars – Thrilling Political Drama but Lacking at Pace

 

 Amazon Prime Video’s latest web series Tandav is based on Indian Political System it can be considered as case study for Fresher student who is newly exposed to Indian Politics we can call it “Politics for Dummies” it has Bunch of Highly talented star cast but weak story line spoils the efforts of actors. Earlier they named it Dilli but later they decided to change the name and came up with Tandav. There’s some controversy going on the internet but Let’s keep the baseless controversy aside and review the content which is work of friction.

Story : Tadav has 2 stories running in parallel first is of Power Crazy Samar Pratap Played by Saif Ali Khan who is ready to go any extend to be an prime minister and second is of Shiva Shekar Played by Zeeshan Ayyub who is aiming to be a voice for poor People of India and got famous overnight by uploading an Fake Murder Video on the social media and from here the game begins of dark and dirty politics. Story line is not so impressive but just a ordinary tale of political family which becomes grey day by day.


 Acting: Tadav has some good quality actors which has potential to make any film or web series hit. But here they have wasted their talent. Somewhere director is not utilized the full potential of these fine actors.its a good casting but poor execution leads to improper story telling. Main Lead is decent in their acting job. Sunil Grover in never seen before cop role Expressionless Sara Jane is something new to watch on screen. Amyra Dastur is just a show piece, Guahar Khan got some fresh character to play.Trigmanshu Dhulia suits quite comfortable in his three time winning prime minister role. Kritika Karma,Dino Morea,Hiten Tejwani has limited screen space. Dimple Kapadia did fair justice to her character she looks pretty cool on screen.

 

 Direction and Cinematography: Ali Abbas Zafar known for making a masala films and this time he decided to put efforts of meaningful cinema but somewhere he is lacking in the writing. Cinematography is good some of the scene is treat to eyes. There is no scope of error in direction as well but what is disappointing is stretching too much just to fill it. Here’s they’ve made mistake, some unwanted scene they can easily chopped off but they have to make it 9 episode long, so they filled some more drama which is unnecessary and series is losing the grip. Although Screenplay is good but editing needs some improvement. This series could have been better. 

Final Verdict: This is second web series of Saif ali khan after the Sacred game. It looks like saif has down graded himself. Hope the second season will see some turn around for Saif and other cast. Tandav Could have been a Griping Political drama but slow pace is spoiling the beauty. It’s a treat to see such a talented star cast under one roof along with mail lead, supporting cast also did good job in acting department. With Under writing the characters Tandav is one time watch or its ok if you skip this. Lets hope makers will do strong comeback with second season as the story left halfway in first season. 2.5 star to first nine episode. Hope I can give 4 stars to second season.
